Along with seeing the show, Nyong’o also had the opportunity to pay a visit to the Galerie du 19M in Paris. “It’s where Chanel’s métiers d’art ateliers are,” says Nyong’o. “I was blown away by the painstaking precision of the craft that goes into each piece, and even got a chance to try my hand at some of the techniques!” After playing fashion artisan for a day, however, Nyong’o returned to her regularly scheduled programming. “It’s back to work for me,” she says of her summer plans. “I have a lot of exciting projects on the horizon that I can’t wait to share with everyone.” As Jennifer Lopez and her jungle print Versace dress and Rihanna’s Adam Selman “naked dress” have shown, anything goes on the red carpet. The motto for some celebrities? Less is more.
Kendall Jenner and Zoë Kravitz flew the flag for teeny tiny underwear at the 2021 Met Gala, when they both attended fashion’s big night in tantalizingly sheer gowns. Back in 2015, Beyoncé arrived at the same event in a scene stealing barely there dress by Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy, and in 2019, Emily Ratajkowski interpreted the Camp Notes on Fashion theme in a memorable ab baring showgirl look by Dundas. This year, Kim Kardashian stunned with 50,000 freshwater pearls at the Met Gala, courtesy of Schiaparelli’s Daniel Roseberry. EmRata, once again, turned heads in a sheer Feben gown at Vanity Fair’s star studded Oscars after party. Most recently, Florence Pugh commanded all attention in a transparent lilac dress at the Valentino haute couture show in Château de Chantilly.
