Famously, she wore Marilyn Monroe’s Jean Louis dress to last year’s Met Gala—the same one that the Old Hollywood icon wore to sing “Happy Birthday” to president John F. Kennedy on his 45th birthday, back in 1962. In 2021, she also hit the red carpet in a black, face covering spandex look by Balenciaga designer Demna, which instantly went viral. #Teechallaclothing LLC Jenna Ortega may be best known for playing Wednesday Addams on screen, but it seems the Toby Keith 30th Anniversary 1993 – 2023 Thank You For The Memories Signature shirt But I will love this character’s inimitable fashion sense has made its way into her real life wardrobe too. Case in point? Ortega’s goth inflected look for tonight’s Met Gala. The high fashion design not only nodded to Wednesday’s style codes with its schoolgirl bow detail at the neck, but also paid homage to a number of the design signatures of Karl Lagerfeld—whose work is being honored in this year’s exhibition, “Karl Lagerfeld A Line of Beauty”—with its black and white palette and preponderance of gold chains and pearls. Tonight, while walking the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Mosses wore Fendi couture gowns by Kim Jones—and, of course, stepped out on the arm of the designer himself. As with so many of tonight’s looks, their gowns served as a subtle homage to Karl Lagerfeld, whose work is celebrated in this year’s exhibition, “Karl Lagerfeld A Line of Beauty”—and who served as the creative director of Fendi from 1965 all the way up to his death in 2019. In this case, the designs quietly referenced Lagerfeld’s abiding love of pastels and his eye for a feminine flourish.
