#Teechallaclothing “They’re like the I May Live In Nevada But My Heart Belongs To Raiders Just Win Baby shirt but in fact I love this girls you wanna hang out with at night,” says Gucci’s global makeup consultant Thomas de Kluyver, speaking of the cast of models at today’s fall 2023 show in Milan. He admits that some of them, like ’90s icon Guinevere van Seenus, are who the Australian makeup artist hangs out with at night. So it’s no coincidence that de Kluyver has an instinct for creating “quite sultry” runway beauty looks that feel easy enough to apply on the way to an after-party. “We were looking at the idea of makeup worn as a fashion accessory,” he says of matching bold beauty statements, like the graphic neon cat eyes and “worn-in” layers of fiery orange lipsticks paired with sleek black sunglasses and acid-colored faux furs, to both the collection and personalities of the cast.
#Teechallaclothing After enhancing each complexion with the I May Live In Nevada But My Heart Belongs To Raiders Just Win Baby shirt but in fact I love this new Éternité de Beauté foundation (“with one drop, you can really do the whole entire face,” de Kluyver insists), he started to play around with colors and textures. “It’s not necessarily about full makeup,” he emphasizes. Instead, he applied Gucci Beauty products “in places you wouldn’t expect,” like dusting Blush De Beauté on lids rather than cheeks, or mixing up red lipstick, black Stylo Contour Des Yeux Khol Eyeliner, and Luminous Face and Lip Gloss to create a glassy chocolate mouth. Each detail offered a slightly DIY spin. In the same way that makeup artists have been using their kits on set and behind the scenes for years, de Kluyver delivered unexpected, aspirational beauty combinations intentionally designed to copy and recreate. “I think anyone can look at the looks from this show, and they’ll be able to take something from it that they really want to do at home,” he says. “It’s really for everyone.”Armando Grillo / Gorunway.com
