It’s the ethics of the brand that are of equal important to the aesthetic. Each LŪRA bag comes with a QR code called the unique digital ID, which allows the bag’s owner to access its history via the LŪRA app. “That will be a documentation of when the bag was ordered, who it was made for, when it was completed, and every single component of material inside. We have some content allowing her to go in and see what the factory looks like, or what the town looks like, and a little explanation about the history of who’s making each component,” Roe says. “We think it’s really important that our clients have the proof, that it’s 100% made in Italy.”In the future, Roe says that she and Planeta have hopes that the brand can become even more sustainable. “When women might want to sell back their bags to us, we would like to refurbish those bags and resell to women who perhaps are aspiring LŪRA customers, or who want to be part of a circular economy.” While they may be a few years off from implementing that circular economy, they’re off to a great start.
This summer, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift have dominated the music scene with their astronomical world tours. Not only did they deliver chart-topping hits during their sell-out arena performances, but they also upped the ante on tour fashion with custom pieces from some of the most celebrated design talent in the industry. Consequently, the devoted fan bases of these two stars have engaged in open competition online, passionately debating over which artist has out done the other. However, this week Queen Bey showed her support for Taylor, by attending the premiere of the highly-anticipated Eras Tour concert film in Los Angeles. For this red carpet moment, the “Cuff It” singer wore a futuristic-looking black long-sleeve leotard complete with a metallic silver breastplate crafted by LaQuan Smith, black lace-up combat boots and gold wrap-around futuristic sunglasses. In contrast, Taylor opted for a powder blue strapless Oscar de la Renta gown that’s fit for a Disney princess — or specifically for one Disney princess, Elsa from Frozen. The Cinderella-blue gown featured 3-D floral cut-outs, a cinched-in waist and a floor-length train. The “Cruel Summer” singer completed her ensemble with blue satin sandals and a diamond tennis necklace, and eyeshadow that matched her dress.
