“I was pretty convinced that I was going to have to wing it,” McMillan continues, “and I did wing it…but in a way that’s super fun.” While scores of Miu Miu attendees pulled up to the spring 2024 show in micro shorts and cardigan sets, Emma Corrin took a drastically different approach. The actor, instead, chose a look that’s more reminiscent of a dad on business trip. Like many other guests, Corrin opted for a boxy blazer. But while others paired theirs with the no-pants look underneath, their look poked at masculinity in a fun, lighthearted way. Corrin wore a pin-striped blazer with white cuffs hanging out of the sleeves over a Hawaiian shirt. Printed with palm trees and surfer girls, the cheeky shirt injected some levity into an otherwise-serious outfit (kudos to Corrin and their stylist, Harry Lambert). On the bottom, they wore a pair of camel trousers, which they cuffed, showing off a pair of black buckled loafers. Always playing with gender, Corrin added a touch of femininity with a white Miu Miu handbag. Corrin has been a loyal fan of the brand. (They even walked the runway earlier this year!) They attended their first show in March 2020, just prior to lockdown, and have continued to rep Miuccia Prada’s “little sister” label since. One moment that helped put Corrin on the map as a fashion risk-taker was when they wore a butter-colored column dress with a matching pilgrimesque bonnet and fingerless gloves that showed off black, talon-like fingernails. They also rocked Miu Miu at the 2022 Met Gala, where they riffed on the “King of Dudes.”
As Emma Corrin and Miu Miu both continue to make waves in fashion, it’ll be interesting to see how the two continue to evolve in tandem. Topping their existing looks is a tall order: Corrin’s already worn the controversial pantless look. This season, the pantless look has become increasingly popular not just on the runways but also on the streets of the Big Four. There was Kendall Jenner in a classic trench-turned-minidress on the front row at Gucci, before Taylor Russell commanded the spotlight with a black strapless romper and 3D metal coat at Loewe. And today? Blackpink’s Jennie Kim made a grand entrance at Chanel’s spring 2024 show with another take on the viral trend. While top models like Gigi Hadid, Rianne van Rompaey, and Mona Tougaard conquered the catwalk, Jennie made her own fashion statement on the front row dressed entirely in the maison’s creations. Specifically, she wore a button-up vest paired with ultra-mini shorts and polka-dotted tights. As for her accessories? A baby-pink belt and strings of pearls were knotted around her waist and hips. Given her long-standing association with the house, it was only natural for the star to be front and center at the show. Just earlier this week, she was seen departing from Incheon Airport for Paris, bringing along her collection of signature accessories by the brand. Clearly, Jennie is a Chanel girl through and through.
