When we think about fall, we think about the turning of the leaves, great coats, and, of course, Ugg boots. Is there a more seasonally-specific shoe than a pair of Uggs? On a cold, crisp day, their shearling lining is a blanket for your feet. You may love them or loathe them, but celebrities are on board with the polarizing shoes. There’s already been three sightings of stars wearing those iconic plushy boots as we head into fall. Earlier this week, Lily-Rose Depp emerged in L.A. wearing a pair of classic calf-length Uggs. She paired them with a pair of straight-leg jeans, and an asymmetrical Gimaguas sweater. In New York City, Emily Ratajkowski stepped out in a platform version, styling her Uggs with a swishy red knit skirt and suede button-up jacket. Cardi B is also a fan of the stacked-sole silhouette: She paired her platform Uggs with a leather jacket, brown distressed jeans, and a Chanel bag. Despite being extremely comfort-oriented, Uggs can clearly be dressed up or down. Uggs have become one of fashion’s hottest shoes—thanks to the popular, new mini and platform silhouettes—and the craze for them is now in full effect for fall. Fall and Uggs go together like Mariah Carey and Christmas—it’s a thriving relationship. So, as Mariah once iconically sang, “it’s timmeeee”—to bust out your pair, that is.
Agyness Deyn’s ineffable presence, characterized by her androgynous features, tomboyish charm and lopsided peroxide chop, made her a runway favorite during the Noughties. When she wasn’t frequenting raves and nightclubs with her rock star pals, the Oldham model was muse to fashion houses like Dior, Chanel and Jean Paul Gaultier. Backstage at shows, she was often photographed wearing her beloved Dr Martens (she eventually collaborated with the brand in 2010). In a nutshell: she was the poster girl for indie sleaze before anyone was calling it that. Now, a decade on, Agyness made a triumphant return to the runway in Sacai’s spring 2024 show at Paris Fashion Week. “We moved back to New York for my daughter’s school, and then the next thing I knew I had a call from my agent asking if I wanted to walk a show in Paris,” Agyness tells Vogue over the phone ahead of the show. “Then, I met with [Sacai designer] Chitose Abe and I was starstruck. I’m such a fan of the brand, so it felt exciting, as well as organic, to be doing the show with her.” On the Sacai runway, she made a striking entrance in a sleeveless white top that’s tucked into black voluminous, sheer-paneled trousers. Even after her absence from the circuit, Deyn can still command the runway at 40.
